Project Descrıptıon

The Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI & RC) implemented an integrated digital health platform to support clinical operations, patient safety, and hospital management across its healthcare network. The system connects the PKLI tertiary hospital in Lahore, the PKLI hospital in Rawalpindi, and 18 satellite clinics, creating a unified digital healthcare ecosystem.

The platform centralizes clinical, diagnostic, and administrative workflows through a comprehensive Hospital Information System (HIS) and secure Electronic Medical Records (EMR). It enables real-time access to patient information, improves coordination between departments, and enhances clinical decision-making through structured digital documentation and data-driven management tools.

The digital health ecosystem integrates multiple healthcare information systems including HIS, LIS, RIS, PACS, Pharmacy Management, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The platform supports specialized healthcare services such as organ transplantation programs, dialysis centers, intensive care units, emergency services, and advanced diagnostic services.

Administrative and operational functions such as patient registration, appointment scheduling, billing and revenue cycle management, insurance processing, inventory and supply chain management, and human resources management are fully integrated within the digital platform. Interoperability across the PKLI network is enabled through HL7 and FHIR standards, allowing seamless data exchange between healthcare facilities and supporting advanced analytics and reporting for hospital management.

The hospital achieved Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation in 2024, reflecting compliance with international quality and patient safety standards supported by the digital health infrastructure.

The platform is currently operational and supports approximately 1,300 healthcare professionals and administrative users, contributing to improved healthcare service delivery, operational efficiency, and data-driven hospital governance.
